DePaul College of Commerce Will Host Post-Enron Audit Committee Seminar June 4
Practical guidance for corporate board and audit committee members will be discussed at a seminar entitled “The Audit Committee Survival Kit: Complying with Fiduciary Duties in an Era of Financial Complexity” at DePaul University’s College of Commerce June 4.
Targeted to audit committee directors, executive officers and general counsels, the seminar will provide an insightful discussion of the responsibilities of corporate boards of directors and audit committees—a timely subject in the wake of the Enron collapse. The event will cover what audit committees should know about the impact of changing regulations and business practices on audit committees, understanding complex financial instruments and processes that will assist audit committees in meeting their fiduciary duties.
The speakers will be: John J. Sikora, Jr., deputy assistant regional director of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission; Lawrence M. Levine, director of Corporate Finance Services for American Express Tax and Business Services; Carl Luft, associate professor of finance at DePaul; and John H. Heuberger, William C. Hermann and Jason W. Levin, partners in the Corporate Securities Group of the law firm Piper Rudnick.
The seminar will meet from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the eighth floor conference center of the DePaul Center, 1 E. Jackson Blvd. The event is sponsored by DePaul’s Finance Department, American Express Tax and Business Services, and Piper Rudnick. The program is free, but registration is requested.
