Black Law Students At DePaul University To Visit Adopted Cabrini Green School Feb. 28
WHO: Members of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) at the DePaul University College of Law.
WHAT: Will visit with 48 seventh graders at Byrd Academy, 363 W. Hill St., as part of the city’s Adopt-A-School program. BLSA members will introduce students to the legal profession and engage them in activities designed to instill in them an interest in the law. Activities will include workshops on such topics as goal setting in addition to a mock trial with students serving as jury members, defendants and legal counsel. From this visit, BLSA members hope to show Byrd students the steps to achieve their goals, present them with role model students and encourage them to believe in themselves and their dreams.
WHEN: 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002.
WHERE: Byrd Academy, 363 W. Hill St.
Charlotte Taylor, assistant dean for multicultural affairs at the DePaul College of Law, and law professor Ray Walters also will join the BLSA members to share their expertise with students and provide living examples of how a career in the law is an obtainable goal.
