DePaul University Offers Course Based On The Book, “The Artists Way, ” Sept. 12 Through Nov. 14 At Lake Forest Campus

DePaul University’s Ryan Center for Creativity and Innovation will offer a 10-week course based on the award-winning book, “The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity,” this fall in Lake Forest. The course will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Wednesday from Sept. 12 through Nov. 14 at DePaul’s Lake Forest Campus, 150 N. Field Drive in Lake Forest.

The course will introduce students to tools and exercises from the book by Julia Cameron. Participants will learn to remove barriers that block creative energy and talents, and to identify and cultivate creative aspirations in a safe, nurturing environment. One of the goals of the workshop is to break through limiting fears and negative beliefs about creativity through fun, experiential activities. Students are asked to bring a copy of “The Artist’s Way” and a journal or notebook to the first class. The course costs $400 per person. For more information and to register, call (312) 362-6780.

The workshop will be led by Christine Milostan, a professional speaker, consultant, artist, and principal of Milostan Creativity, which is co-sponsoring the course. Milostan helps individuals and groups adapt to change, gain new perspectives and re-ignite their creative spark through retreats, keynote speeches, seminars, courses, training, personal coaching and products. Her past clients have included Sears, Lucent Technologies, State Farm and a variety of conventions and community organizations.

Milostan is a professional advisor for the Ryan Center, has appeared on radio and television and has exhibited artwork in the Chicago area. She has a bachelor’s degree from DePaul, where she focused her studies in the field of creativity. She is an adjunct professor at the College of DuPage.

DePaul opened its Lake Forest Campus in 1998 to meet the growing educational needs of people who live and work in Lake County.
