Tech Execs From IBM, Accenture, UNext, BP Amoco, Comark And CivicNet Gather At DePaul To Discuss Future Of The Internet

Technology executives from IBM, Accenture, UNext, BP Amoco, Comark and the City of Chicago’s CivicNet project will discuss the forces shaping the future of the Internet at the “Windy City Symposium: The Future of the Internet,” a half-day forum sponsored by DePaul University’s School of Computer Science, Telecommunications and Information Systems (CTI), Alumni Association on April 20 at the Chicago Athletic Association, 12 S. Michigan Ave.

The event begins with a continental breakfast at 8 a.m., followed by the speaking program from 9 a.m. to noon. John Erhard, principal of Enterprise Application Development at IBM Global Services, will moderate the discussion, which will feature a series of speakers and audience questions. The speakers are:

· Doug Bryan, senior manager, Center for Strategic Technology Research, Accenture, who will discuss “Putting the Internet in Perspective: How We Got Here and Where We Are Going.”

· Stu Miller, digital business retail site manager, Americas, BP Amoco, will discuss “The Internet in Business: Using E-Dispensers To Speed and Enhance the Shopping Experience.”

· LoriLee Sadler, vice president and chief technology officer, UNext, who will discuss “The Internet In Education: Supercomputer Power That Will Change Education.”

· Doug Powers, assistant commissioner and director of telecommunications, City of Chicago, will discuss “The Internet in Government: CivicNet—A Broadband Infrastructure for Government, Business and Residents in the City of Chicago.”

· Jennifer Rasic, business development executive, Comark, will discuss “The Internet Infrastructure: Technologies That Will Enable New Business Paradigms.”
