Local Film Critic To Speak at DePaul

Jonathan Rosenbaum, Chicago Reader film critic, will address students and faculty of the DePaul University Modern Languages Honors Program on February 27, from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., in the Schmitt Academic Center, 2320 N. Kenmore Ave., Room 161.

Rosenbaum will lecture on “Global and Local Ways of Looking at Filmmaking and Film Going.”

In addition to his role as film reviewer at the Chicago Reader, Rosenbaum is a regular contributor to such publications as “Written By,” “Traffic,” “Premiere,” and “Film Comment.” He has authored several books about film, including “Movies as Politics” (University of California Press, 1997), “Places: A Life at the Movies and Placing Movies (University of California Press, 1995), “Greed” (British Film Institute, 1993), “Film: The Front Line 1983” (Arden Press, 1983), “Midnight Movies with J. Hoberman” (Da Capo, 1991), “Movie Wars: How Hollywood and the Media Conspire to Limit What Films We Can See” (A Cappella Books, 2000) and “Dead Man” (British Film Institute, 2000). He is editor of “This is Orson Welles,” by Orson Welles and Peter Bogdanovich (Da Capo, 1998).
