Graduate Degree in Technology Offered at DePaul's Lake Forest Campus

To meet the explosive growth in technology use that professionals face in business, DePaul University is offering graduate degree courses in computer science at its Lake Forest campus.

The courses are offered by DePaul's School of Computer Science, Telecommunications and Information Systems (CTI), the largest graduate school of its kind in the nation. Known for its diverse program offerings, the school produces 42 percent of the state's information technology master's degree graduates.

"CTI's master's degree offers a good combination of practical skills and hands-on theory as well as the cutting edge in technology education," said David Miller, associate dean of CTI. CTI was one of the first schools in the county to integrate the teaching of computer science and telecommunications and was the leader in launching an e-commerce graduate degree program.

"The last three degrees that CTI established are a reflection of DePaul's mission to incorporate the absolute latest technologies in its graduate program," said Miller. These include the master's in human-computer interaction, master's in distributed systems and the most recent master's in e-commerce technology.

The CTI courses were brought to Lake Forest, DePaul's newest campus, in response to the growing corporate presence in the northern suburbs and the region's population increase.

"The Lake Forest campus provides more opportunities for students to take CTI classes near their homes or near their jobs," said William Calzaretta, DePaul executive director of suburban campuses. Course offerings by DePaul's other schools are also expanding at the Lake Forest campus, which opened in 1998.

Beginning in fall, DePaul's Kellstadt Graduate School of Business will begin offering courses at the campus. Kellstadt's part-time MBA program is ranked among the top five in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. Another new offering at Lake Forest in the fall of 2000 is the masters of public service program.

The Lake Forest campus serves the Lake County region and is one of four suburban campuses of DePaul. It is located in the Conway Business Park near I-94 and Route 60, 150 Field Dr., Lake Forest. For more information, call (847) 604-8220. ###
