Outstanding DePaul University Students to Receive Scholarships from Mayor Daley at Award Reception June 29
Mayor Richard M. Daley and the Rev. John P. Minogue, C.M., president of DePaul University, will present scholarships to outstanding DePaul University students at a special reception for the Mayor's Leadership Scholarship Program at 5 p.m. June 29 at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St., Preston Bradley Hall. Msgr. John J. Egan, director of DePaul's Office of Community Affairs, also will participate in the ceremony.
The Mayor's Leadership Scholarship Program was launched in 1992 as a partnership between the City of Chicago and DePaul. Students are selected from throughout the city for their service to the community, potential to become leaders during the new millennium and their academic excellence. They range in age from 18 to 50 and are incoming students in DePaul's undergraduate school, College of Law, Master's of Public Service program and School for New Learning.
Students receive scholarships, valued at between $1,500 and $5,000, based on financial need. The selected students will participate in special programs designed to enhance their educational and practical experiences, such as internships with city agencies, Chicago public schools or community agencies.
