The DePaul Opera Theatre And New Music DePaul Perform In May

     May 12, 8 p.m.: New Music DePaul, the professional contemporary music series sponsored by DePaul University's School of Music, presents the experimental music of bass clarinetist Gene Coleman and his Ensemble Noamnesia. The free, public concert will be presented at the DePaul Concert Hall, 800 W. Belden Ave. For more information, call 773/325-7260.

     May 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m; May 21 at 2 p.m.: The DePaul Opera Theatre will present "L'Orfeo" by Claudio Monteverdi in English for three performances at the DePaul Concert Hall, 800 W. Belden Ave. Generally considered the first opera, L'Orfeo is a musical dramatization of the Orpheus legend, a tale of a love lost, regained and lost again. Harry Silverstein directs the production, which features a full orchestra, cast of 12 and a chorus of 20. Clayton Parr will conduct the DePaul Orchestra.
