Chicago String Quartet Performs Hadyn, Crumb And Beethoven At March 1 Performance In DePaul's Concert Hall

The Chicago String Quartet, in residence at DePaul University, will conclude its three concert 1998-99 season at the university’s Concert Hall March 1 with a performance of Hadyn, Crumb and Beethoven.

The program includes Quartet in B minor, Op. 33, No. 1, by Haydn, Black Angels by Crumb, and Quartet No. 15 in A minor, Op. 132, by Beethoven. The concert begins at 8 p.m. at the Concert Hall, 800 W. Belden Ave. Proceeds benefit the DePaul School of Music scholarship fund.

As the quartet members enter the second half of another successful school year as professors for promising string musicians at DePaul, they are finalizing plans for tours next season, said second violinist Stefan Hersh. The foursome--Hersh, Joseph Genualdi, first violin, Rami Solomonow, viola, and Christopher Costanza, cello--also look forward to becoming the resident quartet at the prestigious Taos School of Music, in Taos, N.M., for six weeks this summer.

Tickets to the quartet’s March 1 performance are $25 per person. Discounts are available for senior citizens and students. For tickets and information, call 312/922-1999.
