Chaddick Institute
The Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development, located at DePaul University, will hold a half-day workshop to address zoning issues related to child and adult day care. The workshop, entitled "Child Day Care and Adult Day Care: Contemporary Planning, Issues and Answers," takes place Jan. 13, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Chaddick Institute, 243 S.Wabash, Ave. Suite 9000.
The workshop is designed to assist regional villages and cities in accommodating day care centers while taking into consideration issues of safety, aesthetics and regulation. Panelists will consider ways community planners can use limited resources to address complex day-care issues. State and federal laws as well as appropriate requirements for registration and inspection will be reviewed.
Representatives from more than 12 municipalities and a number of experts in the day care industry are expected to attend. Nathaniel Werner, the zoning administrator for the city of Elmhurst, will serve as moderator.
Persons interested in registering for the workshop should contact The Chaddick Institute at 312/362-5731. The registration fee, payable by check only, is $50.
The Chaddick Institute was created in 1993 to promote effective land-use, transportation, and infrastructure planning in the Chicago region. This panel discussion is one in a series of technical workshops offered by the institute.
