La Joyce Brookshire, Author of Novel Tie-In to Hit Movie "Soul Food," Will Speak at DePaul University

La Joyce Brookshire, author of the novel based on the hit movie "Soul Food," will be at DePaul University to speak and sign copies of her book "Soul Food" at noon, April 20 in DePaul Center, 1 E. Jackson Blvd. The lecture will take place in the DePaul Club on the 11th floor DePaul Center, and the book signing will be held immediately after in the Gallery Lounge also on the 11th floor.

The first black woman to novelize a major motion picture, and outsell every movie tie-in book ever written, Brookshire will discuss how to take a book from concept to computer to contract. She will also share her experiences as an entertainment publicist who has worked with such artists as Aretha Franklin, Sean "Puffy" Combs and Whitney Houston.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Anissa D. Jones, DePaul Office of Student Life, 312/362-5016.
