Oak Park Resident Susan H. Wallace Named Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer at DePaul University

Susan H. Wallace, 40, has been promoted to vice president for finance and chief financial officer at DePaul University, after serving as controller since 1987.

Wallace is responsible for financial operations of the $200 million Catholic university and the offices of controller, treasurer, internal audit, financial planning and budgeting. A certified public accountant, Wallace led the development of DePaul's five-year financial plan, which has achieved its goals to date.

"Susan’s strengths have been recognized by the North Central Association’s re-accreditation visiting team and Board of Trustees members who have implemented important financial decisions based on her advice," said Kenneth A. McHugh, executive vice president.

Wallace joined DePaul in 1985 as accounting manager and served as acting treasurer in 1987, when she was promoted to controller. As controller, she directed the annual budget preparation, the integration of strategic and financial plans through a 12-member committee and completed 10 successful years with an operating surplus in excess of budgeted amounts. She also designed a financial planning model, incorporating direct and indirect costs of revenue centers, which is integral to DePaul’s planning initiatives.

She will continue to chair the university’s Strategic Resources Allocation Committee and coordinate DePaul's financial planning, with specific responsibilities for the annual operating budget, long-range financial planning and capital budgeting.

Wallace received her bachelor’s degree from Bradley University in Peoria and her master’s from DePaul. She lives in Oak Park with her husband, Bill, and three children.
