Errol L. Stone, managing partner at the law firm of Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal, was elected to DePaul Universitys Board of Trustees by the Members of the Corporation. Stone and four other new trustees were announced at the boards May 21 meeting.
Stone, 58, has been an active supporter of DePaul for over 15 years. He is a member of the DePaul College of Law Capital Development Committee and has helped secure financial support for projects in the law school and the law review office. His firm, which has seven offices in the United States and one in London, England, has worked closely with DePaul on a large number of projects, including acquisition of the former Goldblatts Building, which is now known as the DePaul Center, 1 E. Jackson Blvd., the rezoning of the Lincoln Park Campus and acquisition of the Merle Reskin Theatre.
"Errol Stone will bring a wealth of resources to DePaul," said Edward A. Brennan, chairman of DePauls Board of Trustees. "His intelligence, leadership abilities and commitment to DePaul are qualities that make him a vital part of our future, and a living example of DePauls mission of service and excellence."
Stone earned a bachelors degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1961 and a law degree from the Harvard Law School in 1964. He and his wife, Susan Hilary, live on the Near North Side. They have three children.
Also joining the board are: Mary Dempsey, a DePaul law school alumna and commissioner of the Chicago Public Libraries; Susan S. Moody, executive vice president of corporate banking at First Chicago NBD Corp.; John W. Martin Jr., a DePaul liberal arts and law graduate who is vice president and general counsel at the Ford Motor Corp.; and the Rev. Charles F. Shelby, C.M., a DePaul liberal arts graduate and director of the Association of the Miraculous Medal in Perryville, Mo.
