DePaul Residence Life Staffer Chosen as President Elect of Midwest Campus Housing Association

Michel Frendian, associate director of Residence Life for Operations at DePaul University, was elected president-elect of the Great Lakes Association of College and University Housing Officers (GLACUHO) at the association’s annual conference held in Schaumburg last month. More than 400 student housing professionals from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois attended the conference. Chosen for a three-year position, Frendian will serve the association as president-elect in 1999, president in 2000 and as past-president in 2001. In each capacity, he also will serve as a member of the GLACUHO board of directors.

As president-elect, Frendian will be responsible for the work of the association’s eight

standing committees: awards and recognition, conference programs, professional development, professional recruitment and retention, information and facilities, sexual orientation awareness, multiculturalism and gender issues. Previously, Frendian was 1998 conference co-chair with Deborah Schmidt-Rogers, associate director of Residence Life for Staff & Student Development at DePaul.

Frendian came to DePaul in January of 1996 as assistant director of Residence Life for Facilities and was promoted to his current position six months later. A native of San Francisco, Frendian has a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree in education from Oregon State University.
