David H. Kalsbeek, who has led enrollment management programs at Xavier University in Cincinnati and St. Louis University, has been appointed vice president of enrollment management at DePaul University in Chicago.

"David Kalsbeek brings to DePaul an expertise and enthusiasm that will allow the university to continue to be a leader in the field of enrollment management," said Richard J. Meister, DePaul executive vice president for academic affairs. "He will provide leadership in developing and implementing strategies to increase the quality and number of adult and professional students as we expand our suburban presence and increase the opportunities for life-long learning."

Rev. John P. Minogue, C.M., president of DePaul, said, "David is an accomplished enrollment management professional who is recognized nationally by his peers. He brings a dynamic mix of skills to the position, including particular strengths in the area of student and career development, strategic thinking and the use of technology in the enrollment management process."

"DePaul has an outstanding reputation for academic excellence, innovation and service to a diverse, urban community," Kalsbeek said. "I am excited to be part of its leadership team as DePaul begins its second century."

Kalsbeek comes to DePaul from Xavier University where he served for nearly four years as associate academic vice president for enrollment services. He led a staff of 50 in seven departments that administered recruitment, enrollment, financial aid, retention, advising and institutional research programs.

Kalsbeek's previous experience includes several positions with St. Louis University between 1982 to 1993, including associate vice president for enrollment management, dean of undergraduate admissions, assistant vice president for student development and director of student life studies.

Prior to joining St. Louis University he held director and coordinator positions with the division of student affairs at Mercer University in Macon, Ga.

Kalsbeek earned a Ph.D. in public policy studies from St. Louis University in 1992 and earned a master's degree in 1980 from Ohio State University. He was valedictorian of the 1978 graduating class of Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio, where he earned a bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, in philosophy, with minor studies in political science, religion and Greek. A native of Cincinnati, Kalsbeek is married and has three children.

Founded in 1898, DePaul University is a Catholic university with over 17,000 undergraduate and graduate degree students enrolled in eight colleges and schools. DePaul offers day, evening and weekend programs on five Chicago metropolitan campuses.
